Brothers, Sisters, and Siblings,
My name is Gabriel Quaglia. I am a Harm Reduction specialist who works full time supporting people with substance use disorder. Many of the people I work with are homeless, formerly incarcerated, and are some of the most marginalized and stigmatized people in our community. I know what it takes to connect with people who have had different life experiences and build meaningful and enduring relationships.
For the past several years, I have had the honor and privilege of being an active volunteer for the Committee to Elect Rebecca Lisi. I am happy to give Rebecca whatever support she needs because I appreciate her willingness to reach out and bring people into the fold of community organizing and politics.
I remember meeting Rebecca when she popped into my family’s Fish & Chip shop talking about CRUSH (Citizen’s for the Revitalization and Urban Success of Holyoke) and I was impressed by what she was trying to achieve for the community through networking, community building, and fostering important community dialogue in our city.
Since then, I have watched Rebecca bring that same passion for deep community connections to her work as Councilor at-Large. Time and time again, I have witnessed her listening to understand what folks wanted to see or needed from the city, rather than assuming from a place of privilege that she knew what was best. As an elected representative, Rebecca honors and acts from the principle of “nothing about us, without us,” which means a lot to someone, like me, who works with marginalized people.
This year, the at-Large race is crowded with twelve candidates for office. We need to raise funds to help cover the costs of the nuts and bolts of the campaign –printing lit, lawn signs, and getting info mailers out to the voters.
Please join our Summer Fundraising Challenge of raising $1200 before August 31– that’s a goal of $100 to match every at-Large candidate in order to help Rebecca get her message to stand out among the group.
I’m asking you now to take a moment to click on the button below and make a donation. Please give generously, so that Rebecca can continue the work our community needs.
