Stable and affordable housing stock is a cornerstone of a strong city. We need to cultivate a diverse housing portfolio that can capture professionals moving west due to the Boston housing crisis, while also ensuring that fixed-income residents are not outpriced or displaced from their homes.

WHAT I’VE DONE

I introduced Smart Growth zoning measures that preserve Holyoke’s architectural legacy while promoting in-fill development and the renovation of our historic buildings, such as Lyman Terrace and Holyoke Catholic, into a mix of affordable and market-rate housing.

AS MAYOR I WILL

Ensure that we are offering a diversity of housing options and improving neighborhood amenities such as parks, sidewalks, and safe streets. I will continue to support the rehabilitation of blighted homes through the receivership program and the development of affordable housing units in order to deconcentrate poverty and grow mixed-income neighbors.
